The selection of Mo Rocca, an openly gay TV personality in the U.S., as lector in the papal mass on September 25, caused a huge uproar. Rocca is an American comedian, actor and journalist, well known for his role on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and now a commentator for CBS. He admitted his homosexuality during a podcast interview in 2011. Rocca served as lector in the recent Mass of Pope Francis in New York.
